Future Made in Australia Innovation Fund

Funds Australian manufacturing innovation across green metals and low-carbon fuels through pre-commercial development support.

Australian Renewable Energy AgencyAustraliaGrant

The Future Made in Australia Innovation Fund sits under the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and was launched in December 2025 as part of the federal Future Made in Australia package. It is a national grant vehicle for pre-commercial innovation, demonstration and deployment, with funding of up to A$1.5 billion across Australia. The mandate is broad, but the money is split into named industrial and energy-transition streams. The three priority streams are Green Metals, Renewable Energy Technology Manufacturing and Low Carbon Liquid Fuels. Green Metals is allocated A$750 million, Renewable Energy Technology Manufacturing has an initial A$200 million tranche, and Low Carbon Liquid Fuels carries A$250 million. The program is rolling, open to Australian-registered and Australian-operating applicants, and excludes individuals. Projects that fit best are the ones that can show a pre-commercial pathway and map cleanly to one of the three streams. Because the fund is split by industrial theme, applicants need a clear technology narrative and a credible Australian delivery plan before they approach ARENA. The strongest submissions will be specific about the production step, the demonstration step and why the work belongs in the named stream rather than in a generic clean-tech bucket.
