Mitacs Business Strategy Internship
Funds business strategy internships in Canada connecting students with companies for applied problem solving.
Mitacs Business Strategy Internship is a Canadian internship programme under Mitacs that funds business-strategy and management work rather than applied research. It places students and other eligible researchers inside Canadian organisations for short projects and sits within Mitacs's wider partner-institution network. The model is designed for companies that need strategic analysis, market work, or operational thinking, not a lab-based research deliverable. A standard internship is worth $10,000, with the full amount going to the intern stipend. An enhanced model reaches $15,000, with up to $5,000 available for eligible project costs or stipend top-ups and at least $7,500 from the partner. Placements normally last four months, can extend to six, and projects are limited to two years. Applications are continuous through the RAP portal, with project start at least six weeks after submission and a review cycle of roughly seven weeks end to end. The eligibility bar is tied to Canada-based Mitacs partner institutions and to participants with the right immigration or student status, including citizens, permanent residents, international students with visas, and postdocs with work permits. Recent graduates and postdocs have their own limits, and postdocs must be within five years of the PhD. The programme works best when a host company can define a specific business problem and a supervisor at the partner institution can support a clearly bounded internship.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
