Modernisation Fund (Czech Republic)
Invests in renewable energy, heating modernisation, and industrial decarbonisation across Czech Republic.
The Czech Modernisation Fund is the largest national decarbonisation vehicle — a minimum of 300 billion CZK (~EUR 11–12 billion) over 2021–2030, funded by monetisation of 2% of EU ETS emission allowances under EU Directive 2003/87/EC. The Czech Republic is one of the largest EU beneficiaries, receiving 15.6% of the total EU Modernisation Fund allocation. SFŽP ČR administers the fund on behalf of the Czech state across nine sub-programmes: RES+ (38.7% — new renewables), HEAT (26% — heating modernisation), ENERG ETS (13.3% — industrial efficiency), ENERG (6% — business efficiency), TRANSGov (5% — public transport electrification), ENERGov (4% — public buildings), TRANSCom (3.5% — alternative-fuel commercial vehicles), LIGHTPUB (2% — municipal lighting), and KomUENERG (1.5% — community energy cooperatives).
