The Czech Republic's allocation from the EU Modernisation Fund amounts to a minimum of 300 billion CZK over 2021–2030, making the country one of the largest beneficiaries of the fund, which represents 15.6 percent of the total EU-wide envelope. The fund is financed through the monetisation of two percent of EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) allowances, plus derogation and solidarity allowances under EU Directive 2003/87/EC. SFŽP ČR administers the fund as intermediary, running competitive calls across nine sub-programmes.

The nine sub-programmes, ranked by allocation share, are: RES+ (38.7 percent, new renewable energy generation), HEAT (26 percent, modernisation of heating systems and fuel sources), ENERG ETS (13.3 percent, industrial energy efficiency), ENERG (6 percent, business-sector efficiency measures), TRANSGov (5 percent, public transport electrification), ENERGov (4 percent, public building efficiency upgrades), TRANSCom (3.5 percent, alternative-fuel commercial vehicles), LIGHTPUB (2 percent, municipal lighting modernisation), and KomUENERG (1.5 percent, community energy cooperatives). Each sub-programme issues its own calls with distinct eligibility criteria and timelines.

Calls are published and administered on a rolling basis throughout the decade-long programme period. Organisations interested in renewable energy, heating modernisation, industrial efficiency, or public infrastructure electrification should contact SFŽP at modernizacni.fond@sfzp.gov.cz and monitor the SFŽP website for call announcements specific to their relevant sub-programme.
