Lithuania–Japan Joint Research Projects
Provides bilateral research and dissemination grants with JSPS Japan, supporting long-term sustainable commercialization and growth.
Lithuania–Japan Joint Research Projects is LMT's bilateral programme with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Active since 2017, it funds both research projects and dissemination projects, giving Lithuanian teams a structured way to work with Japanese partners. Research projects can receive up to EUR 100,000 on the Lithuanian side for up to 24 months, while dissemination projects can receive up to EUR 20,000 for up to 12 months. The annual cycle opens in June and closes in September, with assessment running through the following months before awards are announced in March and projects start in April. Eligible costs include research, dissemination, partner visits to Japan, joint seminars, and publication of results. The programme is best for academic groups that already have a Japanese collaborator and can decide whether the work is a longer research project or a shorter dissemination exercise. Its structure rewards a clear bilateral plan, realistic timing, and a proposal that matches the budget ceiling to the scope of the collaboration.
