Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP)

Offers interdisciplinary doctoral training across Academia Sinica and partner Taiwan universities.

Academia SinicaTaiwanGrant

Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) is Academia Sinica's joint doctoral route with partner universities in Taiwan. It is built for international students more than local applicants and spans roughly a dozen interdisciplinary PhD tracks, including molecular biology, bioinformatics, chemical biology, earth sciences, nano science, social networks, and translational medicine. The program sits inside Taiwan's research ecosystem rather than as a standalone campus degree. Students enter through an annual admissions cycle and receive a monthly stipend of about NT$34,000. The program blends coursework, enrichment activities, and internships, which gives it a structure that is closer to a research training platform than a simple scholarship. Its base is in Taipei, with supervision spread across Academia Sinica and the partner university network. TIGP fits applicants who want a PhD built around cross-institution supervision and an international cohort. The clearest route is a track-specific application that shows why the candidate belongs in a particular interdisciplinary program and why the Taiwan setting is the right one for the dissertation.
