Maryland Makerspace Initiative Program (MMIP)

The Maryland Makerspace Initiative Program (MMIP) sits with TEDCO, Maryland's independent instrumentality and quasi-public innovation agency, established by the Maryland General Assembly in 1998. The program requires a 1:1 match, and in-kind support can count toward that match when it comes from materials, tools, space, volunteer time, or organizational funds. Applications run through TEDCO's online form, with MMIP framed around shared access to tools, technology, and technical education that can lead to prototyping and physical product creation. It is one of the few TEDCO routes aimed at shared civic infrastructure rather than company formation, so the best fit is a nonprofit or local public body that can sustain an open makerspace.
