NGen, short for Next Generation Manufacturing Canada, is Canada's advanced manufacturing Global Innovation Cluster and an industry-led not-for-profit that channels federal co-investment into collaborative manufacturing projects. The portfolio sits under ISED's cluster program, and the record says federal backing across the cluster system now exceeds CAD 1.28 billion.

Its current funding menu centers on Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program, AI For Manufacturing Challenge, Advanced Manufacturing Projects, and Cluster Building Project, with earlier themed challenges appearing in the recent portfolio. At the fetch date no open call was listed. NGen's largest route uses cost-shared reimbursement, with AMTP at 40 percent on projects of CAD 1.5 million to 8 million, and other streams ranging from smaller cluster-building awards to larger commercialization projects up to about CAD 20 million.

Applicants need a Canadian consortium, at least two partners, and at least one SME, and all contributors must be NGen members. The strongest proposals are collaborative, applied, and commercial, with a clear path from transformative manufacturing technology to deployment in Canada.
