Mubadala Investment Company is a sovereign wealth fund wholly owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi, managing a diversified portfolio of approximately USD 385 billion across more than 80 countries. Its private equity platform represents roughly 42% of total assets under management and deploys capital through direct equity investments, co-investments, and participations in private market funds. Sectors covered include healthcare, life sciences, technology, energy and renewables, financial services, materials, and consumer and business services. The remaining portfolio is allocated across public markets (20%), real assets including real estate and infrastructure (17%), alternatives (16%), and credit and special situations (5%).

Mubadala operates exclusively as a commercial investor seeking financial returns for its shareholder. It does not administer open application grant programs or non-dilutive funding mechanisms. Transactions are proprietary or intermediated — companies typically come to Mubadala's attention through existing portfolio relationships, co-investors, financial advisors, or direct relationship development rather than through competitive public application processes. Portfolio companies and joint venture partners receive investment capital in exchange for equity or other financial instruments on commercially negotiated terms.

Organisations seeking non-dilutive grants, subsidised loans, or program funding should look to other UAE government instruments, including those administered through Hub71 (Mubadala's Abu Dhabi tech ecosystem vehicle), the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, or other federal and emirate-level development agencies. Mubadala's Private Equity platform is relevant primarily to established businesses or fund managers seeking large-scale institutional capital on commercial terms.
