Chamada Pública FINEP/FNDCT 768 is a R$ 500 million non-reimbursable grant program administered by FINEP — Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos, Brazil's federal innovation-financing agency — to establish applied-research thematic centres at Brazilian scientific and technological institutions (ICTs). The call funds five national-priority domains: sustainable agro-industry, health and biotechnology, defense technology, digital transformation, and bioeconomy and decarbonization. Individual project awards range from R$ 3 million to R$ 10 million over a maximum 36-month period of performance, with resources drawn from the non-reimbursable FNDCT fund. A mandatory regional equity clause reserves 30% of the R$ 500 million pool for institutions in the Norte, Nordeste, and Centro-Oeste regions. Only ICTs — public or private research institutions classified under Lei 10.973 — may serve as principal executor; each ICT is limited to one lead proposal but may participate as co-executor on additional submissions. State, municipal, and DF institutions must provide matching contrapartida in accordance with LDO 2025 rules. The 2025 call cycle closed on 29 May 2026 with applications submitted through FINEP's Plataforma de Apoio e Financiamento in Portuguese. For-profit companies and individual researchers are not eligible to lead submissions under this call structure. FINEP is expected to launch a subsequent cycle; organizations should monitor Chamada Pública 768 on the FINEP website and prepare institutional R&D capacity documentation in advance of the next opening.
