RedIA — AI & Deep-Tech R&D Grants
Funds advanced artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, IoT, and robotics development in Spain through regional research support.
RedIA 2025 is Spain's competitive FEDER-funded R&D grant call for experimental development projects in artificial intelligence and related enabling technologies, operated by Red.es under Spain's Ministry for Digital Transformation and Civil Service. The programme carries a total budget of €130 million, allocated across Spain's three regional development tiers: €43 million for projects in less-developed regions, €40 million for projects in transition regions, and €47 million for projects in more-developed regions. The 2025 call launched in July 2025 and is active, with applications submitted through the Red.es e-government portal at sede.red.gob.es. Awards are made by competitive concurrence (concurrencia competitiva), meaning all eligible applications compete simultaneously and the highest-scoring projects receive funding until the regional envelope is exhausted.
Eligibility is restricted to empresas — registered companies operating in Spain. Individual applicants, public universities, non-profit organisations, and public research bodies cannot apply directly under the convocatoria. The programme funds experimental development projects in AI as the primary focus, alongside cybersecurity, IoT, virtual reality, robotics, space technologies, and advanced connectivity. RedIA is funded through FEDER (the European Regional Development Fund) under the Pluriregional Operational Programme for Spain 2021–2027, which is a distinct fiscal envelope from the PRTR/Next Generation EU funding used by the Kit Digital and Kit Consulting programmes; FEDER audit and eligibility obligations apply. A sister programme, RedIA Salud, was announced on 18 July 2025 with the same wave of funding and a focus on AI in healthcare.
Per-project award amounts, co-financing rates, and page limits are not published on the programme landing page; they are set out in the bases reguladoras and the full convocatoria document available at the application portal. Applicants should download and read both documents before preparing a budget, as the regional tier of the project's location determines which pool it competes in. Documentation and the application process are conducted in Spanish with no English-language route confirmed.
