Kick-Starts are 6-month studies funded at 75% by ESA, up to EUR75,000 per contract, which can lead to larger Demonstration Projects. Applicants register on esa-star, download the official competition documents once the call opens, request a Letter of Authorisation from their National Delegate if needed, and submit via esa-star tendering by the deadline.

ESA wants Kick-Start studies for satellite-enabled services supporting nature-based solutions -- ecosystem restoration monitoring, urban resilience and green infrastructure planning, and nature-related risk, opportunity and disclosure reporting for businesses and financial institutions. Proposed services must use satellite Earth observation, navigation or communications data.
