Horizon Circular Additive Aircraft Manufacturing
Funds two €2.5M projects to make aircraft components more circular through certified additive manufacturing, repair and high-quality material recovery.
Aviation needs lighter, efficient and safe components, but it also needs to reduce critical-material use, manufacturing waste and the environmental cost of replacing or overhauling parts. Additive manufacturing can enable new designs and repair routes, while circular engineering can extend aircraft life and improve recovery of valuable materials. This topic funds two research projects to advance b…
Developing additive design and manufacturing for aircraft and engine structural components using high-performance polymers, composites and metals, while advancing circular design, joining, maintenance, repair and high-quality material recovery. Projects should address residual stresses, phase transformations, defects and reproducibility through design, manufacturing, characterization, testing and certification, with real industrial use cases in the EU aviation innovation pipeline.
