Horizon 55% Ship Fuel Reduction
Funds one €6.5M project to combine onboard renewables and energy-saving measures that cut ship fuel use by at least 55%.
Ships need major energy and emissions savings, but individual technologies rarely deliver enough on their own. This topic funds one Innovation Action to combine onboard renewable energy, energy-efficiency measures and digital optimisation into a full-scale, replicable ship solution.

Full-scale demonstration of combined onboard renewable-energy solutions and energy-saving measures for ships, delivering at least 55% lower fuel consumption and greenhouse-gas intensity against a defined 2008 baseline. Projects should integrate propulsion, hull, onboard loads, energy conversion, digital control and retrofit solutions; quantify each and combined contribution; address safety, cybersecurity, pollution trade-offs, training, certification interfaces, replication and TRL 8 deployment.
