Industrial CCUS Cluster Readiness
Funds three €10M industrial projects that prepare safe, trusted CCUS clusters for hard-to-abate regions and commercial scale-up.
Industrial regions need a credible route to cut emissions from sectors that are difficult to electrify or otherwise decarbonise. This topic funds the first de-risking step toward local or regional CCUS clusters: networks linking multiple CO2 emitters with users, transport infrastructure and potential geological storage, rather than a standalone capture installation.
Projects can prepare retrofits…
An Innovation Action to de-risk local or regional industrial carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) clusters serving hard-to-abate industries. Projects can plan capture retrofits, demonstrate key system components, map cross-border emitters and CO2 users, optimise shared transport and storage infrastructure, assess multimodal transport and geological storage, prepare permitting, and build business models for regional CO2 networks. They must also plan exploitation, scalability, commercialisation, deployment and funding, while involving industrial and societal stakeholders through the Societal Readiness pilot.
