Hydrogen Cities Twinning

Funds one €5M coordination action that twins Hydrogen Valleys with cities planning clean hydrogen for hard-to-abate sectors.

ScheduledEuropean CommissionEU

Cities are exploring hydrogen for industrial uses, heavy-duty and long-distance transport, aviation and maritime activity, but many need practical expertise, infrastructure plans and viable funding routes. This action creates mentor-mentee twinning between established Hydrogen Valleys and cities that want to decarbonise hard-to-abate or hard-to-electrify sectors while improving local air quality a

A Coordination and Support Action that selects promising mentor-mentee twinning pairs between Hydrogen Valleys and cities seeking renewable-hydrogen decarbonisation for hard-to-abate or hard-to-electrify local and peri-urban sectors. The project must tailor collaborative activities to each pair, produce a detailed roadmap for every twinned city, support feasibility and implementation planning, and build communities of practice across cities, ports, industry, governments, researchers and citizens. At least one selected city must be among the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities cities. Hydrogen heating is out of scope.
