Funds two research projects, each worth up to EUR 15 million, to build general-purpose AI models that reason, plan and adapt better than today's large language models.

The Commission wants research that combines self-supervised learning with complementary approaches — hybrid, continual, reinforcement or evolutionary learning — to give general-purpose AI models stronger reasoning, planning and adaptation abilities. Proposals should target at least one research area, from hybrid reasoning architectures to explainable, trustworthy decision-making.
