The Commission wants research into Human-Technology Interaction for semi-automated vehicles (SAE level 3 and below), focused on preventing dangerous confusion during the hand-over and take-over of control between driver and vehicle, using in-cabin monitoring to build adaptive, personalised interfaces rather than one-size-fits-all systems. Proposals should address specific driver groups — elderly, young and professional drivers — and develop new training methods for evolving automation technology.
