The Commission wants development of new or emerging CO2 capture technologies — solvents, sorbents, membranes, cryogenic or solid-looping routes — that reduce capture cost, either from industrial point sources or directly from air (DAC). It wants proposals to name explicitly which of the two capture routes they cover and to address issues like material degradation, energy use, and delivering CO2 clean enough for transport and storage.
