The Commission wants small, lightweight, environmentally friendly and affordable primary equipment for multi-terminal HVDC grids, such as mechanical or hybrid circuit breakers, fault current limiters, and superconducting or conventional cables. It wants proposals to pursue affordability and interoperability through modularisation, standardisation and new materials, backed by a techno-economic assessment and testing in a relevant or operational environment.
