The European Commission wants a project that reviews and harmonises the patchwork of EU citizen-science initiatives on biodiversity — schoolkits, smartphone apps, e-DNA kits and AI-based tools — into shared protocols and interoperable digital tools. It wants engagement strategies that reach a wide range of citizens, including under-represented and vulnerable groups, to grow the pool of usable biodiversity observation data.
