The European Commission wants research that measures the real farm-level costs and benefits of nature-restoration measures — climate, water, soil health, pollination, pest control — across conventional, organic and agroecological farming systems. It wants science-based targets and improved incentive schemes developed jointly with farmers, land managers, advisors and policymakers, so restoration measures under the EU Nature Restoration Regulation are actually adopted on working farms.
