Developing innovative phytosanitary treatments for regulated plant pests to support safe international trade
Funds development and testing of new post-harvest phytosanitary treatments that stop regulated pests entering the EU through traded wood, fruit or vegetables.
Grants aren't awarded purely by ranking: to keep the portfolio balanced across the two focus areas, the Commission also funds the highest-ranked proposal within each area, A and B, as long as it clears every scoring threshold, even if it wouldn't otherwise have made the cut on ranking alone. This call wants innovation projects that develop and validate cost-effective, environmentally friendly post-harvest treatments — such as heat, cold, irradiation or controlled atmosphere — against EU quarantine pests. Proposals must pick either wood and wood products or post-harvest fruit and vegetables as their focus area, and produce standardised protocols that regulators and industry can actually use.
