This is a two-stage Research and Innovation Action: a short proposal is judged first, and only applicants invited to continue submit a full proposal through the same EU Funding & Tenders Portal process. This call funds research that develops practical tools for smallholder farmers in Africa to manage water, nutrients and energy together — the 'nexus' approach — for more climate-resilient, biodiversity-friendly agriculture. It wants proposals to test their tools in at least two different African agro-ecosystems and to respect and integrate local and indigenous farming knowledge alongside new technology. Up to 30% of the budget may go to third parties to develop, test or demonstrate new practices and tools.
