Proposals must identify or validate sex- and gender-specific cardiovascular risk factors by combining evidence across disciplines — molecular biology, behavioural and nutrition science, clinical, social and environmental epidemiology, genetics and epigenetics — and by drawing on existing health registries, cohorts or population biobanks, or justifying the case for new ones managed under FAIR principles. Work should consider how disease progression interacts with life stage, hormones, genetics and psychosocial, socioeconomic and cultural factors, plus intersecting factors such as racial or ethnic origin that can deepen health-access inequalities. Proposals are encouraged to explore synergies with a parallel topic on diets and ageing (HORIZON-CL6-2026-02-FARM2FORK-10) and with EU4Health Work Programme 2026 projects on gender and cardiovascular disease.
