Increasing environmental resilience through a better knowledge and management of the soil-water nexus
Funds research into how soil biodiversity and soil-water interactions affect drought, flood and wildfire risk, to build better environmental-resilience models.
This is a Research and Innovation Action, paid as a lump sum. A single grant worth EUR 6 million funds the winning consortium.
The funder wants new or improved indicators for soil water-holding capacity, and models that link soil biodiversity to soil-water dynamics and extreme-event risk. It wants existing Mission Soil living-lab strategies validated against this new knowledge, across different pedoclimatic zones and land uses in the EU and Associated Countries.
