SEAI SSRH Operational Tariff for Biomass and Biogas
Funds Irish biomass and biogas heating through SEAI operational tariff aid.
The SEAI SSRH Operational Tariff supports businesses and other non-domestic heat users that switch from fossil-fuel heating to biomass or biogas renewable heating systems. SEAI states the tariff supports operation of the renewable heating system for up to 15 years and is based on usable heat output.
Eligible technologies include biomass boilers, biomass high-efficiency CHP heating systems, biogas anaerobic-digestion boilers, and biogas high-efficiency CHP heating systems. Applicants must show conversion from fossil fuels, eligible space or process heat use, eco-design compliance, compliant system design, qualified designers, and tax clearance.
SEAI notes temporary state-aid restrictions for biomass installations: tariff aid is currently available up to 1 MW, or up to 6 MW for SME organisations. The page links to the PEP portal for online applications.
