Design Scheme (MSME Innovative Scheme)

Pays up to 75% of an MSME's product-design project cost, capped at Rs. 40 lakh.

Government of India contributes 75% of project cost for micro enterprises and 60% for small and medium ones toward a Design Project, up to a maximum of Rs. 40 lakh, paid as a grant across three stages — concept and strategy, detailed design, and successful prototype completion — with the MSME funding the remainder. The parallel Student Project track pays up to Rs. 2.5 lakh on the same cost-sharing

The scheme backs registered Indian MSMEs that want expert design help — new product development or improving an existing product — delivered by design consultants at partner IITs, NITs and IISc Bengaluru. A separate, smaller track funds bona-fide students doing design work connected to an MSME's project.
