AgriBiz Programme
Supports agri-enterprises in Kenya with incubation, mentoring, and acceleration aimed at scalable agricultural innovation.
AgriBiz is an incubation and enterprise support programme delivered by the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) and jointly funded by the European Union and the Royal Danish Embassy (DANIDA). The programme targets rural and peri-urban youth and women entrepreneurs who are underemployed or lack the financial resources and business skills to build viable enterprises in agricultural value chains. KCIC has set aside a financial portfolio of 160 million KES for financial partner support across the programme. Operations are anchored at three county hubs in Kiambu, Machakos, and Kilifi, providing proximity-based business development services to participants in those regions.
The programme addresses four structural barriers facing its target demographic: negative perceptions of agriculture as a career path, insufficient business design capacity, limited land and natural resource access, and inadequate access to finance. Support includes incubation, technical assistance, business advisory services, and facilitated access to financial instruments. Participants apply through an online form or by contacting the AgriBiz team directly at agribiz@kenyacic.org or +254 703 034701; the programme office is based at Strathmore University Business School in Makadara, Nairobi. Per-enterprise award amounts are not stated in publicly available documentation.
AgriBiz accepts applications on a rolling basis with no published fixed deadline. Enterprises operating in agricultural value chains and agribusiness that are led by or primarily serving youth and women in rural or peri-urban Kenya represent the strongest fit. Businesses outside Kiambu, Machakos, and Kilifi counties may be able to participate but should confirm county hub availability with the programme team. The programme is distinct from KCIC's SWIFT (waste management) and GreenBiz (historical) programmes and focuses exclusively on the agricultural sector.
