Strategic Integrated Projects - Climate Action
Funds large, multi-year projects that drive full implementation of an existing climate mitigation or adaptation plan, with EUR 30 million set aside for this topic in 2026.
Because a single strategic project can run for many years, LIFE structures it as a series of phases, normally at least three years each, so the scale of the work can be managed and adjusted as it goes. The LIFE programme wants Strategic Integrated Projects that carry an already-adopted climate plan through to full implementation, whether that's a final, updated National Energy and Climate Plan or Long-Term Strategy, a national or regional adaptation strategy, a climate-neutral city or Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, or a sector greenhouse-gas mitigation roadmap. A project doesn't have to complete every action in the plan itself, but it must catalyse the wider process and pull in the extra funding and commitments needed to finish the job over time.
