This 'Big Ticket' topic funds pilot or demonstration projects under the Research Fund for Coal & Steel's coal objectives in Council Decision 2008/376/EC, covering the just transition of coal regions, health and safety, and minimising environmental impact. Proposals must also address at least one specific call objective: repurposing former or closing coal and lignite mines and related infrastructure, materials/waste reuse including critical raw materials recovery, land monitoring and restoration, processing methane emissions, or managing mine water.
