The 2026 Pilot och demonstration call from Energimyndigheten (the Swedish Energy Agency) funds the scaling of innovative energy solutions from laboratory or prototype to real-world operational conditions. The program has a total budget of approximately 200 million SEK and targets projects with minimum eligible costs of 10 million SEK per project, making it suitable for substantial demonstration ventures rather than small feasibility studies. The application deadline is 2026-06-01 at 23:59 CET, and decisions are expected in December 2026.
Eligibility varies by demonstration type. Swedish companies of any size may apply for product, service, and production-level demonstrations, while system-level demonstrations require that all lead applicants be Swedish actors. Universities, research organizations, and nonprofits operating in Sweden are also eligible. There are no published per-project award ceilings above the minimum cost threshold of 10 million SEK, meaning the funding envelope is determined through the competitive review process. Funded projects must start no earlier than 2026-10-01 and no later than 2027-03-01, and must be completed by 2030-12-31.
Successful applicants should plan for a mid-project timeline with the December 2026 decision creating approximately three to five months from submission to contract start. Applications are submitted through Energimyndigheten's e-application portal. Enquiries should be directed to pod@energimyndigheten.se. Competitive strength depends on demonstrating that the proposed solution addresses a clearly defined Swedish energy-system need and that the project scale genuinely justifies pilot or demonstration investment rather than further laboratory work.
Pilot and demonstration of innovative energy solutions at scale in Sweden, covering product, service, production, and system-level demonstrations with a minimum project cost of 10 MSEK.
