SOSV HAX (Hard Tech Accelerator)

Invests in hard-tech and manufacturing startups and provides a six-month Newark laboratory residency for hands-on development.

SOSV HAX is SOSV's hard tech and manufacturing accelerator headquartered in Newark, New Jersey, and the flagship SOSV program for companies building physical-world technology products. HAX invests USD 550,000 per company via a pre-seed SAFE instrument, with an optional USD 250,000 available through the Genesis Consortium for qualifying participants. Participation is equity-dilutive. SOSV makes approximately 60 pre-seed investments annually across its programs and follows on in roughly 150 companies per year.

Accepted founders receive a six-month hands-on lab residency in Newark with access to SOSV's manufacturing and prototyping infrastructure, engineering expertise, partner networks, and investor community. The program requires that applicants confirm they are building a Hard Tech product — software-only companies are not eligible. HAX focuses on hardware, robotics, advanced manufacturing, climate hardware, energy systems, and advanced materials. A separate HAX Plasma Forge program based in Princeton, NJ, was launched in partnership with Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) for fusion and plasma-focused ventures; that program is tracked separately.

HAX is best suited for founders with a working prototype or early hardware product who need both manufacturing guidance and pre-seed capital. The Newark facility provides direct access to physical production support and SOSV's global network spanning 82 nationalities in 58 countries. SOSV HAX portfolio companies span climate tech, physical AI (intelligent machines combining AI and robotics), critical minerals, and industrial hardware.
