Discovery Research Early Career Fellowship
Funds non-clinician early-career researchers to run their own cardiovascular project.
The fellow is hosted at a UK institution, where a named senior academic advisor guarantees space, resources and scientific guidance for the whole award. Up to 1.5 years of the fellowship can be spent overseas or at a second UK institution if that helps the project, with a second named advisor providing the same guarantee at that site. BHF wants final-year PhD students or researchers up to 4 years past their PhD to lead a hypothesis-driven cardiovascular research project. It welcomes people moving in from other disciplines or industry, career returners, and international candidates, as long as the work has a genuine cardiovascular angle.
