Pays NHS consultants' backfill costs to fund time on cardiovascular research.

The award covers between 20% and 50% of a consultant's time over 2 to 5 years, paid as salary backfill for the NHS clinical sessions given up to do the research, alongside up to £35,000 a year for other costs. That £35,000 splits into staff, consumables and equipment, plus a travel fund and a discretionary fund each capped at £1,000 a year, and a separate allowance of up to £200 a year toward cari

BHF is looking for substantive NHS consultants who already have some protected research time and want to build it into a distinct, self-led programme of cardiovascular research. It is not meant to fund time spent only writing future funding bids.
