Parkinson's UK Research Meetings Support
Offers meeting support for United Kingdom Parkinson's researchers organizing evidence focused workshops and planning sessions.
Parkinson's UK Research Meetings Support provides small grants of up to £2,500 to fund meetings and workshops organised by Parkinson's researchers at UK institutions. The scheme is designed for gatherings with defined scientific outputs: eligible outcomes include generating a formal application for research grant funding, producing discussion papers or review articles, or establishing a research consortium. Patient or public information events and meetings focused on service improvement do not qualify. The scheme is currently closed for 2026 meetings; the next cycle opens in October 2026 for meetings taking place in 2027.
Eligible applicants are basic scientists, clinicians, and healthcare practitioners based at UK research institutions. Applications must be submitted at least three months before the planned meeting date, and funding decisions are made within four weeks of application submission. There is no online portal for this scheme; applicants request an application form directly from the Parkinson's UK research grants team by email or phone. Co-organisers at international institutions may participate, but the lead organiser must be UK-based.
The scheme is intentionally modest in scale — the £2,500 ceiling covers venue hire, catering, and limited travel support for a focused working group rather than a large conference. Successful applications typically centre on a specific unresolved scientific question in Parkinson's disease where a convened group of expert researchers could produce a concrete output within a defined timeframe after the meeting. Parkinson's UK encourages all meeting organisers to involve people with lived experience of Parkinson's as active contributors to the agenda and outputs.
