MassChallenge is a Boston-based, globally operating nonprofit accelerator founded in 2009. Its Healthcare Challenge Program is one of several industry-specific challenge tracks that match mid-to-late-stage startups with corporate partners seeking validated solutions. The 2026 cycle ran January through May 2026 across a four-month program structure; applications closed November 5, 2025. Corporate challenge partners for the 2026 cohort were Eli Lilly, MassMutual, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, and Altus Dental, each defining specific challenge statements that accepted startups were matched against.

The program is equity-free and free to participate in — MassChallenge takes no ownership stake and charges no fee. Specific cash prize amounts are not publicly disclosed. Accepted companies attended four mandatory in-person sessions in Boston (matchmaking January 21–22, orientation week, mid-programming, and program showcase/finale) plus bi-weekly virtual check-ins totaling roughly one to two hours per week over the four-month period. Applications are accepted from startups worldwide, with no country restriction. Eligibility requires a validated product or solution already ready for corporate scaling, prior proof-of-concept or pilot experience with corporate partners, demonstrated product-market fit, customer traction, and at least one founder available to attend all four in-person Boston events.

The FY2026 cycle has closed; a FY2027 cycle is expected to open in late 2026. Applicants should monitor masschallenge.org/our-accelerators/ and submit an interest form for notification. Competitive applications will demonstrate clear alignment with a named corporate partner's challenge statement, existing traction with enterprise customers, and the organizational capacity to execute a multi-month corporate pilot during or after the program.
