Multisite, investigator-initiated clinical trials and observational studies for infants, children, women, pregnant and lactating women, and persons with disabilities, run through NICHD's own clinical research network infrastructure and its Network Data Coordinating Center, in a bi-phasic milestone-driven start-up (UG3) and implementation (UH3) mechanism. Clinical trials are optional.
