Cooperative agreements combining two integrated priorities for NIH-funded HIV/AIDS research: a NAMs-enabled stewardship framework (triage and consultation to reduce or replace specific pathogen free, or SPF, in vivo model use, optional human in vitro HIV testing support, and pilot benchmarking) and support for high-quality SPF colony resources, including colony management, virologic surveillance and high-resolution immunogenetic characterisation, where in vivo models remain scientifically necessary.
