EIT Health
Supports European Institute of Innovation and Technology Health initiatives for startups advancing medical diagnostics.
EIT Health is a European Institute of Innovation and Technology Knowledge and Innovation Community established in 2015 and headquartered in Munich. It connects companies, universities, research centres, and hospitals across Europe to accelerate health innovation, and it reports 139 innovations launched to market, €1.9 billion in venture investment attracted, and more than 64,000 professionals trained.
Its support model is mixed rather than purely grant-based. Confirmed cash routes include the Innovation Validation Call, capped at €850,000 and limited to late-stage digital, data, and AI-driven healthcare innovations; the RIS Innovation Call at €75,000; Bridgehead at €25,000; and the Catapult prize at €30,000. Other routes in the family include Headstart and New Models to Deliver Healthcare, while much of the broader programme family is education, market-entry support, or ecosystem activity.
The best fit is a commercialising healthcare team that can lead a cross-border consortium and present a clear route through clinical validation, regulatory work, and market launch. Applicants need to line up with the expected knowledge-triangle structure, the digital or AI-enabled medical-device scope, and the project maturity thresholds used by the call pages. In practice, EIT Health rewards teams that already have a credible product and can show how the funding will move them through evidence, regulation, and adoption.
