FINEP Mais Inovação Brasil — Energy Transition (Transição Energética)
Funds Brazilian energy transition innovation in hydrogen, biofuels, and renewable technology.
FINEP Mais Inovação Brasil — Transição Energética is the largest thematic edital by pool size within the Mais Inovação Brasil Rodada 2 programme, allocating R$ 500 million to company-led innovation in Brazil's energy transition. The programme covers green hydrogen (H2V), renewable energy technologies, biofuel efficiency, decarbonisation processes, and clean combustion, positioning Brazil to meet its climate commitments while developing exportable clean-energy technology. Funding is delivered as non-reimbursable subvenção econômica via FNDCT, administered by FINEP under MCTI.
Only Brazilian-registered for-profit companies are eligible as principal executors. ICT co-executors may participate. A financial counterpart contribution (contrapartida) is required from the applicant at a proportion defined in the edital. Per-project award size is not specified in the available sources; the R$ 500 million pool is allocated competitively among approved projects. Projects must demonstrate technical uncertainty, innovation beyond the state of the art, and a credible path to market or deployment scale. All applications and documentation must be submitted in Portuguese.
The submission deadline is 31 August 2026, with applications submitted through the FINEP platform at cadastro.finep.gov.br. FINEP's evaluation weighs technical merit, innovation degree, energy-transition alignment, economic impact, and the applicant company's capacity to execute. Companies in green hydrogen, advanced biofuels, or battery/storage technology are likely the primary target applicants. The complete edital document, available on the FINEP portal, specifies per-project award floors and ceilings, contrapartida requirements, eligible costs, and scoring criteria.
Funds non-reimbursable innovation grants for Brazilian companies in energy transition sectors including green hydrogen, biofuels, renewable energy, decarbonization, and clean combustion technologies.
