Technologies for optronic detectors
Funds EU development of the next generation of infrared-detector readout chips so Europe isn't dependent on non-EU sensor supply chains.
This Development Action follows on from a 2021 EDF call, EDF-2021-SENS-R-IRD, that first invited the EU's main infrared-detector providers to jointly qualify an advanced CMOS node in an EU foundry; this topic expects proposals to build on and stay complementary with that earlier work rather than start fresh. Collaboration among the primary EU IR-detector players is required because access to an ad…
This topic funds joint work by EU infrared-detector makers to mature the readout integrated circuit (ROIC) — the silicon chip paired with the photon detector array in infrared sensors used across land, air, naval, space and missile-guidance systems. It wants the next generation of ROICs built on an advanced, EU-based CMOS process, qualified and integrated into demonstrators.
