This topic funds early-stage research into a stand-off anti-submarine warfare capability — a sensor-to-effector chain that can detect and strike submarines and large underwater drones from more than 40 nautical miles away. It wants proposals combining lightweight torpedo technology, rocket or drone-based delivery, and improved underwater sensor suites so surface warships aren't limited to aircraft-dependent engagement. The work should also explore effector components that can double up on unmanned aerial or surface vehicles for other missions.
