Neotec Grant

Funds Spanish technology ventures from concept into validated innovation through early and follow-on development.

Neotec is CDTI's flagship non-refundable grant for newly created Spanish technology start-ups whose business strategy is based on the development of their own technology or the use of knowledge developed from research activity. Projects in which the business model is based on services to third parties (without proprietary technology development) are NOT eligible.

Funding amounts: - Standard grant: up to EUR 250,000, max 70% of total project budget - With doctors hired: up to EUR 325,000, max 85% of total project budget - MIT or U Georgia training bonus: additional EUR 10,000 if requirements met (Annex II)

Projects must last 1 or 2 years and must not have started before the application submission.

Disbursement is in two tranches: - 60% advance payment after final concession resolution (max EUR 150,000), no guarantee required - Remaining balance after project completion and audited expense justification

The 2026 Neotec call has a total budget of EUR 20,383,300, expandable to EUR 30 million. EUR 5 million is reserved for projects led by women; unused reserve goes to the general endowment.

In 2025-2026, CDTI Innovation added EUR 100 million to the initial budget for science and innovation tenders, doubling Neotec from EUR 20 million to EUR 40 million in 2025.

The 2026 application window opened 14 April 2026 and closed 14 May 2026 at 12:00 CET. The 2026 deadline has now passed; the next round is expected to be the 2027 call.
