ESA, working with Enel Global Trading, wants feasibility studies that use satellite Earth observation, navigation and communications to forecast snowpack and snow water equivalent for hydroelectric power generation. Solutions must combine satellite data with weather models and in-situ measurements, and must include a working mock-up or prototype proving technical feasibility. Enel's own use case centres on its hydro plants across the Alpine and Apennine regions.
