The 2026 EuroHPC Matching Funds Call is an invitation-only grant programme operated by the Research Council of Finland (RCF) under its Forge funding stream for international high-performance computing collaboration. It exists specifically to cover the mandatory 50% self-financing contribution that Finnish organisations face when they are selected as consortium members in European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) calls. The total pool available for all Finnish awardees combined is up to EUR 3.5 million across the 2026 funding cycle. The call opened on 11 February 2026 and closes on 14 October 2026 at 23:59 Finnish time.

Eligibility is restricted to Finnish research organisations that have already received funding from an EuroHPC JU call and are part of an active EuroHPC JU-selected consortium. For-profit companies and individuals are ineligible. Where a Finnish consortium includes multiple research organisations, each party submits its own separate application to RCF — there is no single consortium-level submission. Awards are sized to cover the 50% co-financing share of each Finnish sub-project's approved costs, with the EUR 3.5 million ceiling spanning all awards made in this cycle.

Applications are submitted through the SARA online services portal at aka.fi. Because this is an invited-access call, organisations must confirm their EuroHPC JU selection before applying; RCF will not process applications from parties without prior EuroHPC JU approval. The tight October 2026 deadline means Finnish HPC project leads should initiate RCF contact promptly after receiving EuroHPC JU award notifications to allow time for internal budget preparation and SARA submission. Contact for queries is handled through the Research Council of Finland's standard programme channels at aka.fi.
