This is a two-stage Innovation Action: a short Stage 1 proposal using the HE RIA/IA Stage 1 form comes first, and only teams invited forward submit the full Stage 2 proposal. The Chips Joint Undertaking expects to fund two projects in total, each with a minimum EU contribution of EUR 1,000,000 and a combined budget across both awards of up to EUR 20,000,000. Funded prototypes have to reach TRL 6-7…

The call wants AI chip prototypes integrating technologies like non-volatile memory, neuromorphic computing, 3D heterogeneous integration or photonic connectivity, reaching TRL 6-7 and tested under real-world conditions. Target applications include mobile networks such as 6G, autonomous systems, industrial automation and healthcare, all under strict power constraints.
