Funds research on near-zero-energy 6G IoT devices, unlicensed-band 6G connectivity, and next-generation connected IoT applications.

Any AI/ML training data a funded project creates has to go into a shared, openly accessible repository that other SNS-funded projects can also draw on, not just get published generically at the project's own discretion. This topic wants work on one of three areas: technologies enabling near-zero-energy IoT devices for long-term unattended operation (including passive, battery-less non-terrestrial IoT terminals); communication technologies for unlicensed-band 6G IoT operation in settings like industrial or healthcare deployments; or new IoT applications and connected devices that clearly outperform an equivalent 5G implementation.
