PFR Deep Tech is a sector-focused equity fund-of-funds operated by PFR Ventures, the venture capital arm of Poland's state-owned Polish Development Fund, and is the most technologically specialized program in the PFR Ventures portfolio. It targets VC fund managers building funds concentrated exclusively on deep-tech verticals: artificial intelligence, quantum computing, advanced defense systems, robotics, space technologies, and cybersecurity. The total allocation is PLN 300 million, intended to support between three and five VC funds, which in turn are expected to invest in 50–80 portfolio companies.

Private investors must contribute a minimum of 50% of fund capitalization, with PFR covering a maximum of 50% β€” a higher private co-investment requirement than most other PFR Ventures programs. The program accepts applications on a continuous basis, with no fixed call schedule, meaning eligible managers can apply at any time via pfrventures.pl. Both newly formed and existing VC management teams are eligible. Per-company ticket sizes and individual fund commitment ranges are not publicly specified on the program page.

PFR Deep Tech is designed for fund managers who can source, evaluate, and support highly technical companies in Poland across the listed deep-tech sectors. Managers applying to this program are expected to bring domain expertise β€” not generalist VC experience β€” and the 50% minimum private contribution requirement screens out managers without access to institutional LP commitments. Teams with backgrounds in defense, aerospace, quantum, or advanced AI who want a Polish state co-investor at up to 50% of fund capitalization are the primary target.

Funds VC managers with deep-tech strategies in AI, quantum computing, advanced defense, robotics, space, and cybersecurity, with PFR allocating PLN 300 million to support 3–5 funds investing in 50–80 Polish portfolio companies.
