CEF supports quality of life and environment in individual communities, and large projects across several communities that address broader rather than purely local concerns. It may support improved pedestrian, equestrian, or cycle access not provided under statutory services; landscape and nature conservation enhancement projects which increase biodiversity; sports and recreational facilities; public open space; community facilities; and refurbishment or re-use of historic buildings and monuments. BLEF supports interventions that have a positive impact on local economies. It may support promotional activity for local economic benefit, events that maintain or increase regular footfall or promote business activity, projects to maintain or increase tourist visits, public-realm enhancements around local economic centres or destinations, and business support services and training for disrupted businesses.
